The AgriPunica winery was founded in 2002 thanks to the intuition of the famous winemaker Giacomo Tachis to create an iconic Sardinian wine exploiting the great potential of Carignano grapes in combination with modest percentages of some French varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
It was Dr. Tachis who convinced the other two founders of the company, Mr. Antonello Pilloni and Marchese Incisa Della Rocchetta, to invest in what became a Sardinian/Tuscan joint-venture.
Between 2002 and 2003 two agricultural estates were bought and the initial 65 hectares of vineyards, now 70 hectares, from which the grapes for the three wines of the house, Barrua, Montessu and Samas, come.
The current production is about 300,000 bottles per year, of which 80% sold abroad, with a distribution in about 40 different countries in the world.
